Ocean

"The story is about a little wave, bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He's enjoying the wind and the fresh air- until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore.
"My God, this is terrible," the wave says. "Look what is going to happen to me!"
Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave, looking grim, and it says to him,
"Why do you look so sad?"
The first wave says, "You don't understand! We're all going to crash! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn't it terrible?"
The second wave says, "No, you don't understand. You're not a wave, you're a part of the ocean."

-Tuesdays with Morrie, page 179

When we spend too much of our energy and focus on what keeps us separate, we promote loneliness, resentment, anxiety, and sadness. Learning to see how we are connected and how to embrace the pulsations of creation and destruction in life creates peace, acceptance, and joy in the experience of existing.

How long are therapy sessions, and how many will I need?

Yes! We are happy to schedule a 15-minute call or Zoom meeting with you to discuss your needs and answer your questions. You are welcome to schedule these consultations with multiple therapists at White Wave as well, so you can choose the therapist with whom you resonate best.

Why should I work with you?

White Wave Counseling is built on a foundation of providing a healthy workspace for our counselors. Healthy and well-balanced counselors make better healers. We have humane schedules, remain unencumbered by cumbersome health insurance mandates, and manage our work-life balance so that we are bringing our absolute best to our clients. We are a team of counselors who genuinely love our jobs. We have the time to pursue our passions, expand our knowledge as therapists, read books, attend conferences, and research resources that may benefit our clients. We have room to customize your healing experience by providing longer sessions, payment plans, outdoor walking sessions, including other family members, and more to maximize your therapy. We strive to provide the best services you can find in the state, and we provide personalized, detailed attention to every one of our clients.

The initial session is typically 90 minutes, and most clients go to 60-minute sessions thereafter; however, we do have clients who prefer longer or shorter sessions and varying frequency, based on their needs, schedules, motivation level, and budgets. We are happy to be able to customize your rhythm of therapy in the best way for you.
Therapy duration is a highly individualized aspect of counseling. Some clients are in therapy for years, while others need some support around a specific situation that is highly temporary. We are open to all models, and we realized that one’s needs may change over time. We frequently revisit the topic of session frequency and duration with our clients to maintain an open dialogue about evolving needs and goals.
